DESPERATION

What is your version of the Gospel -- this great teaching of Scripture?  Do you have the certainty that you are ready for Jesus to come, or are you still concerned about your readiness to see Him face to face?  And on what basis do you feel that assurance or uncertainty?  This series of studies will make clear what the Bible teaches on this subject.

When we truly see who God is, what He requires of us that we might live, and what we AREN’T and CANNOT BE – we realize how far we fall short! – THEN, and only then will we, out of desperation, embrace His sufficient provision for our salvation by grace, through faith in the finished work of Christ for us ALONE.  Until we see our desperate need for Him, we will either 1) erroneously believe that we can achieve what He requires or 2) we will ultimately die without hope!

Paul’s discourse on the Gospel as presented in Romans 1-8 is as thorough and clear as can be found in the entire Bible!  In Part 3 of our series on this subject, Paul spends a whole chapter illustrating what he has told us in Chapters 1-3, using Abraham as an example of the EXCHANGE that takes place between God and the sinner (me/you) that results in our right standing with God.
